Pollen

"This painting wanted to be light — from the very beginning, it refused the weight I usually bring. The cream kept spreading. The gold arrived in particles, almost airborne, settling where it wanted. I worked the lower section last, building texture until it felt like earth after a warm rain, the kind that carries things. The blue came as a surprise, the way a sky does when you've been looking down. I think I was painting spring without knowing it."
